Hi, I’m Jonathan Messenger

I am a photographer who loves helping families and seniors feel amazing in front of the camera and capture their unique stories!

I know how intimidating the camera can feel but trust me it doesn’t have to be that way!  My sessions are fun, stress-free and tailored just for you.  I'll personally guide you through the whole process from posing to selecting prints.

I’ll help you feel at ease, give you tips for looking beautiful and we'll even share a few laughs along the way.  (I've got tons of "Dad" jokes in my back pocket ready to be deployed 😂😂)

Outside of photography, here are a few things that inspire me and bring joy to my life:

Philadelphia Eagles

I've been a fan since 1980 when Ron Jaworski was the QB, Wilbert Montgomery was the RB and Harold Carmichael was the best wide receiver in the NFL. #flyeaglesfly

A New Hope

If it's on TV, I will watch it. Every single time. I love them all (except maybe Episode I where JarJar Binks is on the screen). Who doesn't want to be Luke Skywalker??

Volcanoes

They are beautiful and they just have a raw, awesome power and nothing can stop them. If you get the chance, "Fire of Love" is a fantastic documentary and a must watch!!

Dinosaurs

If I had the chance to do things different, I think I would have loved to be a dinosaur bone hunter. They are fascinating creatures that we are still learning about.

Modifieds

These cars are faster and quicker than today's NASCAR stock cars. The sound of one cranking up is just pure joy to my ears. If you've never seen a modified race, you're missing a show!

The Weather

My family thinks I'm borderline obsessed with the weather and more specifically the weather channel. I watch it every day and can't get enough of it! Weather is so complicated and beautiful at the same time.

All Things Disney

I am one of those rare men that absolutely loves Disney World. I'd go twice a year if I could afford it and could get the time off.

My photography style

I believe in bright, bold, crystal clear colors.  I combine a mixture of "posed" shots and candid shots into each session.

There will be nothing toned down and nothing "vintage".

I do put a slight dark vignette around the edges of each image in order to help make the subject stand out because after all YOU are the focus of the image, not the background.

Senior and Family Photography in Franklin County, Bedford County, Floyd County, Patrick County, Henry County, Pittsylvania County and the cities of Roanoke, Rocky Mount and Martinsville.
