Hi!

Choosing what to wear can be a time consuming and stressful when trying to get ready for a photo shoot.

There are a few general "rules" you can use when choosing your families outfits.

1.  My #1 rule is to wear clothes that you all are comfortable in.  If you are not comfortable in your clothes, you won't be comfortable in your pictures and you will be able to tell it.  

2.  Dress for your environment meaning if it's cold outside wear jackets or coats, stocking hats and gloves if desired but don't put everyone in shorts and t-shirts.  This one kinda goes back to rule #1 above "if you aren't comfortable, you won't be comfortable in your pictures".

3.  Make sure you're all dressed for the same weather or occasion.  If it's a summer mini session, I wouldn't think you'd want half of your family to be in shorts and a t-shirt and the other in long sleeves and jeans.

4.  Choose a color scheme you like.

5.  Avoid pictures and slogans.  These can be very distracting in the pictures taking the focus away from the real stars.

6.  No stripes, horizontal or vertical!  Stripes are not anyone's friend in pictures.  They are just not flattering at all.

These are just a few general guidelines you can follow when trying to decide what to wear to your photography session.  These rules don't just apply to mini sessions, but all of them.
