Meet the Sneaky Rhodes Family!  

Kathy Rhodes, the wonderful mom of this group, contacted me earlier in the year around February wanting family pictures done.  She stated that some of her family who lives in Texas would be up here visiting in May and she wanted pictures done then.  We scheduled her session for May 23rd and everything was set.

Or so I thought.

It wasn't an hour later her husband, Bill, contacted me also and asked if we had set a date and I told "yes" we had.  He then told me that he and the kids had a surprise for Kathy.  The family members from Texas were coming in a week earlier to surprise her!  How awesome is that??

So he asked me to be part of the surprise.  The real date was now going to be May 19th instead of the 23rd.  But Kathy wasn't to know that.  I literally had in my calendar two dates, one labeled "Real Date" and the other "Fake Date".  I am so happy they asked me to be a part of this surprise.  

We had their portrait session at beautiful Ferrum College. From the moment we met on campus, I knew we were in for a fantastic time.  They all arrived with bright smiles and a contagious energy that made the day so enjoyable.  Kathy had the biggest smile of all of them.

We started our session in front of Ferrum College's historic bell tower, where the classic architecture provided a stunning backdrop. The kids were a bundle of joy, running around and laughing, which made for some wonderful candid shots. Their playful spirit brought such life to the photos, capturing genuine moments of family joy.

Towards the end of the session we went to the Blue Ridge Museum Farm where we took a few more formal portraits with everyone together. And even got some with the resident donkey who enjoyed being petted by the kids. 

I’m so grateful to have captured these beautiful memories for the Rhodes family and look forward to more fun sessions like this one!
